Brad Gushue is off to the semi-finals after crushing Kevin Martin 8-2 on Saturday evening. Gushue executed an open hit for five points to end the game in the sixth end.

Gushue's squad got off to a slow start at the World Cup, but they have improved incredibly since the opening day.

The game was tied 1-1 in the fourth end, when Gushue picked up a deuce with the hammer. Martin tried to inch his way back into the game by scoring a single in the fifth end.

But in the sixth end, it was all Gushue. Martin's squad made several mistakes and the Newfoundlanders capitalized every time. This resulted in a big five points for Gushue, and Martin decided to throw in the towel.

This advances Gushue to the semi-finals.

Other semi-final action saw Kevin Koe eliminate Sweden's Niklas Edin. Koe has had a very strong week so far and is among the favorites to win the World Cup.

The championship match of the World Cup will take place Sunday after.
