P.E.I's team O'Rourke has advanced to the finals at the 2010 Scotties Tournament of Hearts with a 10-6 win over Ontario's team McCarville, thanks in large part to an excellent 93% performance from team O'Rourke's fourth, Erin Carmody.
In the first five ends, team O'Rourke picked up 2, 3, and 2 in ends 1, 3 and 5, while McCarville managed a single point in ends 2 and 4. This gave O'Rourke a 7-2 lead, from which team McCarville never recovered. In the second half, McCarville picked up 4 points to O'Rourke's 3, but it was not enough. With a final score of 10-6, team O'Rourke becomes the first team from P.E.I to ever make it to the finals at the Scotties. If they want to be champions, however, the P.E.I team still has one more huge hurdle to overcome, as their opponent in the final will be Jennifer Jones' team Canada, who are looking for their third straight Scotties win.
